I set it up and tested it the day I got it. I put quail eggs in on the 23 of May. I waited until she laid 10 eggs to see if she would incubate them but she did not attempt it. I wasn't sure if it was because it was her first time and she was unsure or she was not going to be a sitter. She just...
About a week and a half ago I decided to buy an incubator an chose a Hova-Bator. The one I ordered was a 2362, Turbo Air, with the Electronic Thermostat w/the Auto egg Turner. When they shipped it at the time the 2362 was on back order but did not show on the place I got it from so I got an...
Thanks DK,
I decided to remove them an incubate. I will give it a shot next time. Maybe she needs a little more time as a beginner. When I took the eggs out she did not seemed concerned, just stood there and looked at my hand.

! pair of our buttons have 9, the first laid on 5/15 and one each day till 5/23. She fiddled a little trying to organize a nest but has not started to incubate them yet. She sat for a couple of minutes off and on but does not stay. I don't want them to go bad so give me you experience, should I...
My 2 pair just started laying. They will start when they start. I tried to coax them but no go. Little buggers aren't they. I use artificial lighting from 6am until 8pm with an automatic timer. I am using a Cree 5000K daylight Led 60 W Dimmable. They are laying so the light is doing what is...
So far She has laid 3 eggs all in different spots. I put a small nest box in and placed the eggs in it. They go in and out, especially the male. It seems that he is trying to coax her into going in the nest. Is his common for first lying hens? Will the hen eventually sit on them? Thanks.
Dave
Well, the female (couple #2) has finally settled down again and they are doing some grooming. I have not seen them do any mating yet but I don't watch them all day. However, (couple #1) were mating a couple of days ago and yesterday I found an egg in the cage. I can't be sure it is fertile but...
Precious,
I try to make thing simple but adequate. I do have 2 cages, one I bought and the other I made. Cages cost a lot of money so I will, if needed build them myself out of plastic storage containers. I just added a food and water deck to one pair of our button quail as an experiment to...
This is one of 2 cages I made. They are 120 Quart plastic containers, 28" long x 16" wide x 15" high. I used a glue gun to glue window screen on the top and used 1/2" square wire for the front. Works well and the quail seem to b happy. Dave.
The past 2 days the female button (light rear) has not been harassing the male. A couple of days ago I put them with the other pair of quail so I could clean the cage. Well they did not like this pair I added to their cage. Both male and female would not stop chasing the intruders. This must...
One pair is doing really well. They have been in separated pairs since I got them a month ago.The first 3 weeks things were just fine, now the hen on one pair will not leave the male alone. I might give it a couple of days and see what develops. I have thought about an outside aviary but need to...
I have 2 pair of button quail, each pair in separate cages which are inside. 1 pair, the female will not quit chasing and pecking the male. I am also trying to stop the bullying.
Dave
The two button quail were doing fine, except the last couple of days the female is chasing the male around the cage and keeps pecking at him. Could this be a sign on stress. I have had them for 3 weeks and they were originally raised outside (about 8 or so weeks old). They lay together all the...
