Thanks for the info...I was hoping they would get bigger. I must tell you though that even though they are small, they are perfect and had a nice hard shell. The girls are even laying in the nesting boxes. I couldn't be happier!
Yayyyy! My girls just started laying their first eggs. Got 4 so far. They are very small though. Is this normal when they first start laying?
Thanks.....

My hens have been like clockwork going in at dusk. The last two nights they just stay outside and curl up close together on the perch. They are in an enclosed cage but I don't feel safe leaving them in that over night. Does anyone have this problem? if so, how to you re-train them to go inside...
No, I just happened to look out the window to see what they were up to and I noticed them frozed like that. It was so wierrrrrd! Everyday is something different with them. They just crack me up.
Looked out at the ladies and all of them were frozen in one spot. It was the strangest thing I have ever seen. I am a new chicken owner so I don't know all their funny little behaviors just yet. I'm assuming there was a predator nearby???? Has anyone else seen this before. They kind of looked...
I'm new to the wonderful world of chicken keeping..I really need to know if you all worm your chickens or not. I've gotten so much different information on the subject. Sounds like ACV may help to control them and I will start using it soon. What I really need to know though is do you all use...
I'm still trying to figure out what my ladies like. They seem to be a little pickier than I thought they would be. They didn't even go nuts for watermelon or strawberries. Today I gave them some Honey bunches of oats w/almonds and they barely touched it. So far the one thing I find they do love...
:)New chicken owner here!!! They are now about 2 months old. Should I be giving shots and wormer??? If so, what, when, how, etc.? I've found conflicting information on the internet. Please give me some advice on these two issues......ty

They were locked in for quite a while before we let them out so they definitely know it's home. We've been putting them in ourselves so I guess I should start letting them figure it out on their own.
Thanks.
My chicks just starting going out. Every night my husband and I have been bringing them in one by one. It's a big pain in the butt to say the least. Will they learn to go in on their own or do I have to do train them some how? Hope this isn't too dumb of a question! I'm a new chicken owner and...
Well, I should have clarified that. The chickens will have a large 4 ft pen (chain link), no top to it. But within the pen is going to be a seperate fully enclosed pen that will be attached to the coop. This way they can spend some time in the enclosure when we are not home and then go out into...
We are using 4 FT chain link for the pen. Got it free from my brother who was taking it down. I think we got easily sucked in because of the "FREE" aspect to it.
Now I'm thinking it's not high enough. How high can a chicken fly? I've heard clipping the wings may help....any comments or...
