Pictures of Black Copper Marans around time of laying first egg

I'm so jealous.. mine are more interested in hiding under the coop than laying. They constantly hang with the Rooster but he shows no interest in them? He spends more time chasing the EasterEggers that won't be laying for another month.

So far the last time he come up to visit he showed a very loving side twards my lone ranger. when I said intimidating I meant more twards their general look like people...

    Need help identifying age.

One day coming home from dropping my daughter off at Pre-K, my g.f notices "chickens out of their coop". Well, they weren't mine. They're actually my neighbors Roosters. They're not exactly the brightest neighbors, they "ordered chicks a while back and as they grew, eventually found out they got...

Does anyone grow their own Sunflowers to feed their chickens after enjoying their beauty? My neighbor has some in front of her house && I love seeing them, I thought about asking her when she cuts them down if I could have the flowers? And possibly next year growing our own w/ the kids and then...

    Are Barnavelder's "lone ranger's"?

Like always, come daybreak, she jumped fence. I actually checked for eggs (instead of jst feeding watering and cackling w them) I think she's laying before dark or right before she goes out in the AM? I was considering some sort of box next to the fence for during her time outside where she lays...

    Are Barnavelder's "lone ranger's"?

We're located in Northeast PA. She was fine until her 4th or 5th day, the kids spooked her she was perched on the gate && its almost like since she got that extra freedom, she cant get enough. I thought about a friend.. but when I asked my hubby he said that wouldn't make a difference. I let...

    "Daddy, we're CHICKEN FARMERS!!!!!"

Population 100 -- I am originally a city girl and moved into this area 13yrs ago. I knew nothing but "Chickens poop eggs" (the way I explained it to my daughter), my hubby tried to give me some general background on them. I found myself "Googling" every single question imaginable and it always...

That is great to know.. I would've thought something tried to get it. Newbie Question; Our one Red was I guess you could say "bullied" before we got her.. She doesn't have the whole attacked by a porcupine look, she's actually bald on her back. Will she sprout new feathers?

Hi. Recently my hubby brought home chickens.. we have 9 total. 5 Reds, 2 Barredrocks?, a Barnavelder, which since we got her I thought was a black sex link, and Roost. The day he brought them home he kept them in their coop, they all get along fine except for my lone ranger. As soon as she wakes...
