When did your baby chicks move outside?

We moved our chickens outside when they were old enough not to need the heat lamp anymore. Seems like every time I ordered new chickies it was cold out. So that was my reasoning for that. But they do seem to get a little larger and cramp quarters are no longer suffice. Our coop has doors that...

    Any hatcheries in Texas?

I use Ideal Poultry as well, I would hate to have baby chicks come from so far away, Ideal Poultry is near us in Cameron, TX so its the best place for us, so far no issues with the hatchery or chicks. Best of luck!

    Feed Store eggs

Hello chicken lovers! I have a question, I own a beautiful small flock of buff orpingtons, who are in the process of not laying as much as they used to, we love our eggs, and thought lets go to the feed store and buy eggs, but the yolk was yellow! Does this suggest factory eggs, such as those...

    HELP! CHICKENS EATING EGGS

Mine still do that occasionally, but the key is to make sure they have plenty of laying pellets and water, if they are thirsty they will hit the eggs for moisture. They don't always, and I heard once a chicken starts it will not stop, but again, as long as ours are fed well and have water they...

    New with a question.

The only one I can answer for you is yes the ducks will want water and they will leave if you don't supply them with it. Not necessarily a lake, but a small sort of old wash tub or something they can play in. I saw a man on you tube had built his ducks a pen with tbars and chicken wire, it was a...

is there a cock in the hen house?

The roosters tails in the back are larger is one way, but of course that is only after they've lost those beautiful baby soft feathers. They walk around like their waiting on a fight very straight and in my experience they are very long legged. They won't start to Cock a doodle do for months and...

I feel weird posting on this section...

That is a disturbing question and let me tell you that when I received 12 roosters I was not thrilled, my chickens weren't thrilled either, they were bullying my chickens and such. No I do not eat my packing peanuts and to be honest with you I am considering getting my chickens this year from my...

Chickens started laying and then stopped

Yes they are hatchery chickens, my aunt bought some from the feed store and she said they are great egg layers I bet it is the hatchery. To answer the second questions yes, they rome on our property all day. We have gardens and they feed from that and scraps. Sunflower seeds, stale bread and...

Chickens started laying and then stopped

So I have 15 buff orpingtons, they had stopped laying and yes we had a drought issue here in Texas so I understood that, but then after 10 months of not laying heaven, we were getting 8-10 eggs a day last time they laid that much for us was November, they had stopped completely from then to...

Today marks the 21st week since hatching and NO EGGS !!!

Oh my goodness, the drought of Texas made my Chickens start laying on Oct 2nd, my sons bday! But mind you they were 8 months old which was very frustrating. I was ready to start over, but my husband was the patient one. He was right, they are now producing about 7-8 a day I have 13 of them...
