    Losing feathers and lethargic

Delores laid an egg today. Will hens lay eggs if they are sick? I wouldn’t think so … I checked but don’t see mites or lice. Maybe it’s just molting?

    Losing feathers and lethargic

I Don’t know if the crop is emptying at night. This is my first time raising chickens - it’s a big learning curve. Here are the photos requested. She looks puffed up. She’s a big girl to start but she is looking a little larger today.

    Losing feathers and lethargic

Thank you… she is drinking a little but not really eating and this morning I noticed she has green diarrhea. She’s moving around the run today - so far more than yesterday - would mites cause green diarrhea? Or is there something else going on?

I am going to check tonight but either way I’m going to treat them anyway, it can’t hurt. Thank you for your response and help.. much appreciated.

    Losing feathers and lethargic

She laid a few days ago. Maybe it’s been about 4 days which is unusual for her. I thought of that but she won’t let me near her to feel her belly

    Losing feathers and lethargic

Hi Jen Delores is losing some feathers on her rump. Underneath the puff of tail feathers. She is about a year old and I know they can molt at this age. She’s also lethargic- eating and drinking very little. She wants to spend her time inside the coop. Today she did venture with the rest of the...

When will my hens lay eggs

I have 2 RI reds , and a Brahma - there’s also an Easter egger and a Australorpe... only the Easter egger and the ri reds are showing signs of being ready. The others aren’t. I just wanted to make sure I wasn’t missing anything. You’re right patience! Thanks.

When will my hens lay eggs

My hens are 21 weeks old and I know they are in the right egg laying age. They are showing all right signs , but still no eggs? Could it be the day light? We live on the East coast and are not getting a lot of day light time. They also sleep in their nesting boxes ( I thought it was because...

    New chicken mama

Thanks! We are blocking off the nesting boxes so they won't sleep in there. It's like raising kids.. LOL - one day at a time

    New chicken mama

Thanks for the tip. Last night my chicks made their way inside all on their own. Maybe they just needed time to acclimate to their new environment.... but I have heard a light in the coop is a good idea. I may try it ! Thanks again! 😊

    New chicken mama

Hi Everyone and thank you for the replies. I’m happy to announce that my chicks tucked themselves in all on their own last night. No help needed. Now they hang out in the nesting boxes during the day.. good grief!! Is this behavior I’ll want to break? I’ve read so many articles that say don’t...
