That makes so much sense! Do you know of any other sanctuary that would fall into this catagory?
And as for Vanessa, I have seen her ads and her prices are really good. Plus I bet she has good conditions, but ya its really far from Gilbert. That would be a day trip for me. I have been...

I don't think he does. He doesn't seem like the pet chicken type. Rather just using chickens for his profit.
His animal sanctuary is good just not the poultry section for his business.
I have been to C and C Hatchery in Queen Creek, Arizona and they breed chickens non stop with terrible conditions of the facilities. There are many chickens shoved into tiny cages that look horrendous with eye infections, bloody backs, loosing feathers, and many many other horrible conditions...

Sorry, we have no more room here. I built my coop/run anticipating 8 chickens and we now have 13 hens. Thankfully, they get along well and we let them out to free-range for about 5 hours per day. They seem very happy.
That's what happenend to me too! I started out with 8 hens 5...
I am in the East Valley and I will not be in town this summer. I got a job at a camp in Prescott and I was wondering if anyone on here would be interested in fostering some of my bantam hens for the summer. They include D'Uccles, sultans, frizzles, standard Polishes, standard cochins, and some...

Well I'd try to solve the problem, but if you really have to, try posting on Craigslist or creating an ad in the Classified ads in the newspaper under pets. The later costs money. I rehome my pets through Craigslist cuz its free and I can scan people more easily. Its too hard to do it on here...
I don't think the pound usually takes in poultry. It s the Humane Society that does this and when they get them, they need to go as fast as possible because they don't normally give them the best treatment, so they contact rescues or sanctuaries. Maybe I will call them in the morning.
Well a local reporter for the newspaper wants to do a follow up story about a chicken rescue. She did a story about a duck rescue that I volunteer for because its so close to Easter. People buy duckling as Easter presents not knowing what to do with them when they get older so they dump them in...
I don't like the thought of any animal wondering around suffering in pain, but he deserved it for trespassing and killing your roo. I can relate to this situation. On Christmas day I woke up to my dog barking non stop and I found my huge, mean, but gorgeous goose ripped open. Strange as it...
My chickens are free ranged and they have lice. I have tried putting DE in their dusting holes but when they see the white stuff laying there, they go and dust in another spot and avoid this one. So now I have to dust them individually which defeats them self-administering. I have been dusting...
I live in Arizona and I am looking for a local chicken or poultry rescue. I don't know where to begin, but I've tried google with no luck. I was just wondering if anyone has heard of anything in AZ or if someone knows of a good rescue search site. Thanx!
Well I took her to the avian vet today. Her crop was empty because I did not give her any food during the night, so that ruled out impacted crop before I took her in. The vet examined her and found out that she had heart issues. Her heard was beating really fast and irregular. He gave me two...
I also have a sneezing chicken. She has been sneezing for three weeks now. I don't think its dust (cuz no other chickens are sneezing) or that she has something in her nose. What could it be? I have been treating her with antibioitcs and it seems to be helping. Why not treat with antibiotics?
