So many questions! (Getting hen to accept chicks)

I would say very aggressive. I snatched before it could get violent. I was afraid this was the answer I would get. I had the brooder set up just in case. I wasn’t planning on raising more chicks myself, but thought it would be fun for her (and me!) to let her raise some.

So many questions! (Getting hen to accept chicks)

I have a broody hen, about 3 weeks in I think. Twice she has left a clutch to go sit in an empty nest. I went today and got day old chicks. I tried putting them under her and she growled, pecked at me (her usual broody behavior) but after I set them uNader her, she pecked at the chicks also. I...

    New roo and hens questions

I had some chicken drama, involving a Fox and some hens. My set up is free range with a large secure coop for feeding, sleeping and laying. Stainless steel commercial baking sheet pans for poop board

I was wondering if there was any reason stainless steel commercial size baking sheet pans wouldn’t work for a poop board? Do chickens have an aversion to something like that in their coop?

    Not a Brahma...

Yes, I got them from tractor supply, and I did look to see what they sold, but it wasn‘t helpful. I think you are right... I’m leaning towards isa Brown and/or golden comet.

    Not a Brahma...

I’m brand new to the chicken world, but... I’m pretty sure these 5-6 week old ladies aren’t Brahama’s as advertised! 😅 Any ideas what they may be? l

    Hey ho hi!

I’m looking forward to learning from you and the chickens! (1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens? Brand new! I got my first little chicks this week. (2) How many chickens do you have right now? six (3) What breeds do you have? I have three gold laced Wyandottes, and...
