Yay! Goosie started eating her treats - a vegetable mix from her feed bowl and ground today! She also attempted to pull grass, weeds and leaves but doesn't do it...probably because her beak is too sore to pull hard enough to break the grass, weeds and leaves off, but I am so happy to see her...
I was waiting for news either way before I posted an update. I am so happy to say that she is doing well, much better than I would have ever expected after seeing her beak that first day!
The Avian vet finally did call back but told me that he had never had any success with Geese or Ducks...

Thank you to everyone that has replied and for your caring words, I really appreciate this. I can't give up on her yet, she is walking around like there is nothing wrong other than she can't close her mouth. I am hoping she is not in pain, she doesn't act like it, I can't bare to think about...
It seems to have stopped bleeding unless she dips her mouth into the water, then it looks like it bleeds again but it may just be the dried blood washing off.
I would be afraid of putting any type of tape on her beak since all that is on the bottom is her tongue. She seems to want to keep...
I don't see anything to tape or glue together at the last 3/4 of her beak on the right bottom side. The left side of the beak seems to be there..it is just the right side that seems to be missing so much. There is a little piece at the joint of the beak that is sticking out that looks like...
There is no vet in this area that will work on her. I found an Avian vet two towns away but since it is after hours I had to leave a message on the emergency line but that was over two hours ago and they haven't returned my call.
I checked on her just now and she is up and walking around in...
I went out to feed my animals and found the female Toulouse goose in the corner of her coop. I believe she got into a fight with a stray cat (she is very territorial) and it tore her beak apart to where her tongue is hanging down the bottom. It looks like bottom beak that holds her tongue in is...
Hi, just an update and added questions.
The hen is still alive. It was a soft shell egg that was in the prolapse. I ended up having to cut a 1/4 inch cut into the membrane to get the egg out because when I went in through her vent to find the egg I could find it but there seem to be a membrane...
There is no vet here in my area (Bolivar, Missouri) that would see her because when my turkey broke his toe I tried to get one of them to see him and they all said they don't work on poultry.
I'm not sure at all that it is a soft shell because with the membrane of the prolapse covering it I...
Not offended at all. I knew that they both came out the same basic area but wasn't sure exactly how they came together inside, if you know what I mean.
I soaked her again, this time in epsom and sugar water. The right side looks deflated now but I am now almost sure there is an egg in the...
Thanks Colleen. What would be the ratio of the sugar water, how much sugar to how much water in soaking water and to drizzle? It won't hurt her to push this back in? When I gently pressed previously just to see if I could feel an egg it feels either very swollen or there is an egg...but I do...
Thank you ddawn, that description really helps a lot. The right side (right being the side we are looking at facing the picture) has shrunk some, the left side looks like it has too but it is still pretty round looking whereas the right side isn't, it seems to look like a balloon that is...
Ok, I am doing what was speckledhen said but I don't have Prep-H so I searched on here and found that many use honey, that is why I went with honey because it shrinks the tissue and not vaseline because I read also here that vaseline could cause it not to stay in if the prolapse went back in...
Thank you for your help. I tried pushing it back in but it is really swollen feeling. I pushed to see if it was hard as if an egg was in there but it isn't hard, just firm but soft enough to dent in. She acts really uncomfortable when I move it. I can't tell if there is a soft egg there or...
