I received some shipped eggs that where warm to the touch " they sat in the mail box for an hour" I went ahead and put them in the incubator as soon as I opened the box and had an 78% hatch rate
One of my 5 week old coturnix hens was attacked today and she has a wound that covers at least half of her head. I have isolated her and have put neosporin on the wound. Is this something she can recover from or will I have to put her out of her misery?
I recently just hatched 12 jumbo coturnix quail, they are about a week and half old now and have most of their breast feathers. I believe that they may all be hens(spotted chests) and was wondering how hard would it be to introduce 2-3 males once they mature. And how would I go about adding...
My quail chicks are 6 days old and are starting to bathe in in their food dish. Can I put some dirt/sand in with them or is it still to early for that?
12 eggs hatched for me, still have 5 eggs left I doubt they'll hatch though( no pips, no movement) but I'll keep them in the incubator a couple more days
Update*
I now have 12 little chicks (all doing well) out of 17 eggs, the first egg that pipped died and the other 4 have not hatched, but will give them a couple more days.
So I went and bought a digital themometer/hygrometer with probe and dropped it through the vent hole( I did not open the incubator)the humidity was 69%(inc says 64%) and temp is 99.0( incubator says 99.8). At egg level. Should I up the temp or leave it alone?
Awesome! I'm incubating my first batch of coturnix quail as well I'm on day 16 and so far 3 eggs out of 17 have pipped but no hatches yet. I'm hoping I'll wake up to some furry little chicks in the incubator
