I peeked under the row covers to see how everything fared after our 9* weather. Surprisingly, only a few kale survived down in the veggie garden.Up here by the house, kale, chard, collards and Chinese cabbage all made it.... And they're all in pots! Absolute opposite of what I expected. Anyway...
Think you're smart to cut the breakers to stop electricity usage. I'm home 24/7 so I just use the little outlet cubes with off/on switches. Anything not actually being used is not getting electricity. I get a couple months a year free from the solar panels, and a few times they've paid me for...
You all make me so happy I don't partake in any of that medical stuff. I'm feeling positively rich just thinking how much I've saved over my lifetime, lol
Oh my goodness!!!!! Have they ever thought of just putting that amount in the bank, and if anything happened pay it out of that money themselves? Or are they sickly where they always need to go to medical facilities? Forgive my ignorance on how these things work, but that just seems outrageous...
I don't think I like the idea of our government or utility company controlling my electricity. I'm much too independent for that. I can however be incentivied. Give me bigger discounts and lower bills and I'll make the effort, lol.
I didn't take it that way, I appreciated the concern. My thanks was genuine. My electric (whole house is electric) usually only runs a little over 100 for the coldest months. Granted, the solar equipment on the roof helps to keep it low, and probably the fact I enjoy keeping a roaring fire going...
That looks easy to use, can you tell me how long you've used it? I get tired of buying things that stop working after a few weeks. And would you recommend it to our OP if they decide to go for the heat in the coop. ( just realized I was being rude and butting in on OPs thread for a personal...
Thanks, but I use an 8 gauge outdoor fire resistant (self extinguishing cover I think its called) extension cord with 20 amp plugs, not the cheap 16/3. Luckily I know an electrician who told me exactly what to use so there was no danger. Sure wouldn't have known there was a difference in...
I too use a heater in my coop. It is an oil filled radiating heater hanging in the middle of the coop, not designed for chickens, but works very safely. It sits on a concrete block and is suspended from the ceiling also to prevent tip overs. It is not intended to heat the whole coop, it can't...
They passed a law here years ago (obamacare) that forces everyone to have health insurance whether you want it or not. I had to pay a fine to the government every single year on my taxes because I refused to pay for something I didn't want/use. Now I'm on social security which provides hospital...
I am old, really old and have never willingly been to the doctor. I would probably go if I was dying of some horrible painful condition just for the drugs. After all, what more harm can they do if I'm already dying? (New England journal of medicine has stated that there are more doctor caused...
Well good golly, y'all make me feel like our weather is practically balmy at 13*
Tended the chickens and rigged up a deer feeder today. Anything else can just wait, we're going to be 60* in a few days.
