Chase the chicken, or not to chase the chicken..THAT'S my question.

Quote: He's being a normal roo. He respects you as the head or alpha roo, so of course he's afraid of you. Subordinate roos that don't respect the alpha typically get their butts whooped by the alpha. I personally like a standoffish roo. Well he did attack me once and I [gently] kicked...

Chase the chicken, or not to chase the chicken..THAT'S my question.

I tried leaving him out last night and my sister called around 11:30pm saying he was still running around the yard. And we haven't had raccoons or opossums in our neighborhood for about 4-5 years

Chase the chicken, or not to chase the chicken..THAT'S my question.

I've tried treats, slowly inching towards him, holding him when I do catch him, and even sitting in the coop with them for a few hours. He's just never liked me. Ever since he was a chick, he's been standoff-ish towards me.

Chase the chicken, or not to chase the chicken..THAT'S my question.

So my rooster and I have kind of got in this habit of him running from me and me chasing him every evening and I'm done. I'm tired of doing it and especially now that I work nights and try to get a nap in before work. My hens always jump up on top of the coop around 7:45pm and I just go into the...

San Antonio, Texas feed stores and where to buy organic!

Hello, It's time for my chickens to switch to layer feed and I want it to be organic. The problem is I cannot find a store that sells it. If anyone in San Antonio or the surrounding area [even Austin] knows of a feed store, farm, or any other place that sells organic feed please, please let me...

    Rooster cannot see!!!

I have another post asking his breed and general consensus is that he's a gold laced polish rooster. he's hilarious and has been walking around fine now that I trimmed it. I feel much better as well knowing he can see predators from both directions now [I was able to sneak up on him and he...

    Help identify this rooster!

Those pictures are about 3 weeks old..I'm trying to get a picture right now but they are all hiding in a bush to keep cool in our 105 degree weather. I'll upload a current one as soon as I fight through the bush.

    Rooster cannot see!!!

thank you both! The farm I got them from said he was found on their step along with 20 other chicks so they had no idea what they were or where they came from. He's definitely a great addition to our family

    Rooster cannot see!!!

My roosters crest has grown quite large and it has drooped to one side blocking his left eye. He's begun to walk sideways and I've noticed he gets pretty frustrated with it. Would I be able to trim those feathers or is it something he is just gonna have to get used to?

    Help identify this rooster!

My rooster, Leo, has definitely given me a hard time..first i thought it was a female ameracauna, then realized it was a male, and now my best guess is that he's a gold brabanter. I'd upload a picture but I'm not quite sure how to and I've read that since I'm a new member I cannot upload...
