Better get some traps set out and try to trap her. It will be fairly easy to trap a fox as they are not nearly as wiley as ol' man coyote. I would not suggest shooting at it with a shotgun unless you are well aware of your surroundings. A shotgun without the proper choke can tend to scatter...
I use my finishing gun with 3/4" staples. You kinda have to hold it over the corner of the joints in the wire, and make sure to turn the pressure pretty low, but it seemed to work consistently. We installed about 40 sq. ft. of 1/2" hardware cloth in about 20 minutes using the finishing gun.
That other one could still be a Americauna. They come in all different colors. We have 6 of them and a few of them looked like chipmunks, but we had a dark one or two as well. Only time will tell if they will lay a blue egg.
I hear that the buff orpingtons are pretty good winter layers. we just got our first chicks about 3 weeks ago and we got buffs and barred rocks. I guess we'll see who lays the most eggs during the winter.

Well I guess we have lots of early flyers. I first noticed the girls doing it when a moth got in the box around the light. I had never seen such crazy activity in my life. We keep a lid on the brooder so hopefully they won't escape while its opened.
