    Help w/ Roosters Fighting

I have 2 roosters approx. 4 months apart in age (both under 1 year old). The older (Maurice) is a Wheaton Americauna and the younger (JuneBug - just starting to crow) is a Golden Lace Red Wyandotte. Maurice is loving the ladies a lot right now and fighting w/ JuneBug. I know this is normal...

    HUGE egg

The weight is 110 grams. First thought was...OUCH!!! Then I had to check (being pretty new to the chicken stuff) to make sure their vents were not dragging in the dirt behind them. After seeing all was ok, I went right back to... OUCH!

    HUGE egg

Hello! Not sure which one of my gals left us this egg??? We have an older Easter Egger who lays every now & then. An old Americauma Cross who stopped laying a while ago, and 2 younger Americauna gals who may be just starting to lay now. Those would be the only 4 of the 16 hens we have that lay...

Just found her. What Breed is she?

I know you will be able to help me. Just found this gal in the front yard w/ my 3 Dobermans (she likes dogs). Trying to figure out what breed she is. Definately a hen. Pretty bird whatever she is. Thank you!!!! Her tail is a solid color. Small bird, maybe Bantam Old English Game Hen???

To kill or not to kill? Advise for first timer needed.

Thank you all. The older hens pick on him so, we don't want to leave him w/ the others. Not fair. Both of us work full time so, we are not able to be w/ him all day. I think we will give him a bath today (his butt gets poopy) and let him be w/ the smaller birds all weekend. He is safe from...

To kill or not to kill? Advise for first timer needed.

Hello All, Winston our young roo is not getting better. We believe he fell from the roost jockeying for position and did something to his sternum or breast bone or whatever long thin bone is in the chest. Probably fell on top of a table their nest boxes are on and hurt something. We think this...

    Help- Hen "out of it"

UPDATE: Hubby is at home today and let her out of the crate. Said she sprinted across the yard to be w/ the others. I told him to keep an eye on her because maybe she just wanted to be w/ the flock and that is why she took off over to them.

    Help- Hen "out of it"

I need some help. Totally new at this. 1) What type of bird , age and weight. Easter Egger. Unknown age & weight cuz we found them. They look older. 2) What is the behavior, exactly. Wandering around "in a daze" & falling asleep while standing. Kinda stands there like a drunk person. 3) Is...

Not a back injury - maybe mites???

TOTAL NEWBIE here!!!! Need suggestions. I thought our young roo hurt his back. Took him to the lady we got him from and she says it like a virus or something. Maybe mites???? OK, yucky! Now that I see her birds and I look at mine, I think I need to do something for bugs. She gave him an...

    Young Roo Perch Accident?

Winston (the little roo) is going back to the breeder for rehab, as I am not able to be home w/ him (darn work!) all day long. She thinks it is a back injury and said it's a 50/50 chance he will recover. We hope so!

    Young Roo Perch Accident?

I am thinking my young roo had an accident jockeying for a place on the perch. I think he fell off??? It seems like his thigh muscles are not working properly. He is eating/drinking fine, he is alert and wants to be w/ the others. Problem is he will not stand all the way up and he...

    Organic Soy-Free Feed

I need to purchase Organic Soy-Free poultry feed. Either lay mash or pellets. I can not have soy (2 time cancer survivor and soy fuels my type of breast cancer) and am having difficulty locating some near me (Southern California). Also, I have 3 hens that are laying, a young rooster, and a mix...

    Americauna?

While I have you all... Thanks for the ID on the other hen. Just to be sure, is this an Americauna? She has grey legs and lays a greenish-beige (like camo green) egg. Her feathers are a bit different fromt he others, they stick out straight on the sides of her head. I do not know what that...
