    DONE

Coyotes made a home under our chicken coop and proceeded to kill all 25 chickens and then drag them under the coop. All that was left was feathers. Then a badger moved in and killed the coyotes. Finally a neighbor came over and trapped the badger. I may try for chickens gain next year; maybe...

What is needed to hatch new chicks?

Mrs. K, Thank you so much. I'll try your method and see what happens this first time. I will start with say 12 fresh eggs and one broody in which ever nest she prefers. Keep the layers and roo outside during the hatch. Then let them in and place a nest on the floor for the hatch and...

What is needed to hatch new chicks?

Thank you for your help. Next question - should I build a single nest and keep the hen and brood separate from the rest of the chickens? And, when do I introduce the chicks to the rest of the flock? I will put the chicks in my covered horse tank with heat lamp and chick feeders plus watering...

    Bad Eggs?

I have 24 chickens and one rooster. I collect the eggs in the morning and evening. Some of the eggs have a red spot on the yoke. Are they bad eggs? Are they OK to eat? If this is a problem how do I stop it?

    Small Brown Eggs

I have 24 White Plymouth Rock hens. They have just started to lay eggs, but they are small eggs. Will they lay regular sized eggs, and when? Also the eggs are brown. The age old question --- Why do white chickens lay brown eggs? Thank you, Chickens are great!

    Chickens Revisited

Hi, I'm Don Olson in Ottertail, MN. I raised chickens for my parents when I was 11 to 13. So what did I do, now that I'm 80? I converted a corn crib into a chicken coop and bought 30 chickens; 24 hens and 6 roosters. They are not laying yet. I got them the end of May, but I'm hopeful. I...
