Hey y'all 👋 I've got two female Muscovies and two Rhode island red hens, and today we were given a 6 month old Muscovy female who was raised and lived indoors her whole life 😳 she prefers humans to birds!
So we haven't had her long at all, but she's of course being bullied right off the bat...
Just an update for future people who may have a similar thing come up, I ended up doing nothing more and it's totally gone. She got her bandage off within 24 hours, spent more time in the pool and it just slowly resolved itself. Thank you for all the help!
I did see a video of her, she really doesn't look in pain at all. They even gently touched her near her leg and she didn't flinch or move at all. And she was eating
Hi everyone!
About a month ago I adopted 2 adult female Muscovy ducks from a duck rescue here in Texas. I'm obsessed with them. I now have the very exciting opportunity to add 2 adult hens to my tiny flock, both actually from the same duck rescue. One of the chickens has a shattered leg 😭 but...
I continued digging and I think maybe we were looking for hyperkeratosis, which SOUNDS like what is going on but I can't find a good picture of it! She has no limp and no apparent discomfort, no swelling, no redness, no warmth.
I am going to unwrap her foot this morning, take pics of it (and...
I was thinking I can't find a picture of bumblefoot that looks like my girl's foot 🤔 there really isn't like a central scab or anything. Was it the keratosis pilaris that they're referring to in that post that you think this might be?
Thank you so much for your reply, I'm so new to bird...
I can't thank you enough for your reply, my adrenaline is still high and I'm still a bit panicky haha. I am definitely going to get some mealworms tomorrow before I wrangle her again!
Is it possible for it to heal without getting the scab off?
I dumped out their pool for the night (it was...
Hey all! Two days ago, after much prep and planning, I went and picked up two female Muscovy ducks from a rescue here in Texas. This is our first duck experience and now I'm freaking out inside because I think one of them came with bumblefoot! I managed to get a hold of here which was terrifying...
I'm having the same issue with my fence and I'm heavily considering just lining the entire floor of the run with hardware cloth, eliminating the need for an apron or a trench.
Hi everyone! I've read so many posts here in preparation for getting a couple Muscovy ducks that I finally joined!
I have a coop built and fully lined with hardware cloth on all sides, including top and bottom. This coop will be connected and open to a large run for them so they will have...
