So I managed to use the plasters and have taken them off today. He’s definitely better but still hobbling a little. How does he look in the photos? Hard to get many as he is now whizzing around so fast! Do I leave be or tape again?
Thank you for the replies. I feel a bit nervous tying a band round the legs but it seems like that’s the only solution?
He is housed on some old towels As he is inside with me. Momma abandoned the nest before he hatched and she won’t accept him and I found him cold and alone so had to bring him...
Hi,
I have a duckling with a splayed right leg, have attached some photos. It is eating, drinking and trying to get about but the leg isn’t right. It wasn’t like this when it was hatched.
Any advice appreciated. Thank you.
He's a lot stronger this morning and is walking but is still wobbly. I think there is an issue with his right foot. Have atttached a video of anyone has any thoughts.
Hi
It's been a while since I last posted on here, last years ducklings hatched with few issues.
This year my Abacot ranger sat on 6 eggs and 5 hatched last weekend and then she left the nest. I brought the remaining egg into the incubator thinking it would hatch any day and it's only hatched...
I've had 6 duckling raised by their mother, 4 have now gone to their new home and I have kept 2, they are now nearly 6 weeks old.
I have integrated mother and ducklings with the two other ducks I have (a male and female, both parents to one of the remaining ducklings).
The trouble is the...
Just an update as it's been a while! The duckling are now nearly 6 weeks old, 4 have gone to their new home and I've been to see them and they settled very well and have a lovely home.
I've kept two, the one I rescued which is on the right hand side of this photo - I can't believe how quickly...
Hope this is viewable now - this is them in the garden at the weekend but they seem to have had a mega growth spurt since then!
I'll take another photo today and upload!
I can see I'm going to have to get tough during this learning curve of a journey!
I just thought it would be mean to deny her the chance to become a Mum. I got her last year as a 16 week old and this is the first time she has gone broody. I've really enjoyed it although the babies are growing...
So I shouldn't let them go to a new home until I think she is ready? I feel very mean thinking about it. We have someone who wants them next week for their wifes birthday but they will only be 3 weeks then? Is this too early? Don't want to upset the Mummy, she's so protective of them.
Regarding...
Ah, ok, is that the done thing then? To keep a couple? I'm worried about them being related to the Ones I have and also being overrun in the future? If I keep a couple every time they raise babies, I'll be overrun in no time surely? I'd love to keep them all!
I can't bare the thought of...
