    we have 80, counted yesterday. 10 roosters, 8 of them free range and live in two separate bachelor coops. 9 month old buckeyes in a brooder and 29 marans waiting for it to warm up and move into outdoor brooders, there are 24 eggs in the incubator.

    Crack in Run Door

    I like this style of latch more than barrel latches. I think as things settle they are more flexible. I also like double latches on the doors, one about 1/3 up from the floor and the second about 2/3 up from the floor. I think that this spreads the load and makes the door stay closed better.

    If I understand the post what we are seeing in the picture is going to become part of the run and the coop will be in the shed to the right of what is pictured? If that is the case I would put down some leaves, straw maybe mulch and call it good.

    A 6' x 10' dog kennel would be another way to go. Used they can be quite reasonable in cost and have a good resale potential if you decide you do not want it later, additionally they include doors. One other suggestion I would make is can you build more of the panels your current run is made...

    Yes, they can transfer diseases to each flock. Separation distance of 20 feet between quail and chickens is recommended.
