my little Serama has started coming of age and being the only survivor of a failed incubation could rather do with a good home with other chickens
He has been well looked after to the best of my ability and is of good health
Though it would always be best to have a vet give him a look over...
it's been some time now and my little boys feathers have come in properly...the hackles and saddle feathers are starting to come in too
his tail feathers are starting to get a green iridesence too (you won't be able to see it in the photo....he was too freaked out by the camera)
another chick update here
I have good reason to believe I have a male here because the comb and wattles are coming in and the general posture and "aggressiveness" is definitely pointing to male
anyway...here's a photo
I have heard a little saying regarding silkies that goes a little bit like "lack of Intelligence is directly proportional to the amount of fluff covering thier eyes"
I know mine was dumb as bricks until he got a haircut
my little baby is just over 3 and a half weeks old
here's a photo I just took now...it reaaally wasn't happy about being picked up when it was sleeping though
EDIT:my phone's camera isn't great and picking up colours indoors unfortunately
I have given my chick a good look over today....it's tail is really coming in now and it's wings are pretty big now too :D
but the nost interesting thing is that the wing feathers closest to it's body (if the wing in extended) are now turning into a rich reddish brown...my little baby is going...
I would love to see some examples!
my chick is growing nicely as well by the way. it's tail feathers are coming in nicely and it's wings have mostly feathered out now.
no sorry....this chick is the result of a rather failed attempt at incubating a set of 6 eggs bought from Ebay....and this was the only one that survived...there were 3 developed eggs and only this one hatched out
my chick is just over a week old now and has some wing feathers coming in...I was wondering if could get some idea of it's adult colouring and maybe a comparison photo or two
yeah my little girl has recovered since I last posted here...it's likily she just mistimed her jump up to the wooden platform that holds her water supply away from the sand.
she normally either jumps up just fine to walks up the ramp if she doen't feel like jumping.
