I bought a digital temp /humidity gauge at TS.
TS is an hour from me and it was the only one they had.
Temp is correct I have 2 other thermometers reading the same.
My problem is humidity.
I have a flat round pan full of water with a sponge.
And humidity stays at 16%
I added another wet sponge...
Grind up oats like quaker oatmeal and give it dry for paste butt .
My girl has no other symptoms except I can't stop the paste butt.
She has been having baths a and soaks and salve on her bum.
Usually probiotics and oats work.
Just not with her :(
I have an older barred rock hen.
She is a rescue I've had two years. From her condition when I got her I assumed she was old anyway.
Last week she was perching hunched up and not filling her crop. Her crop is empty nk sour smell.
She also had a dirty bum. White not real bad.
AnywaybI brought her...
Its really hard they were inside babies and I carried them around and babied them.
Finnegan being my only boy was so beautiful and a real shy boy.
I would feel better knowing he is happy out there.
My girls seem to be calling out more today I hope he hears them :)
Thanks for the encouraging...
He flew out last week so I think he flew out again.
I have chickens that were out also.
I didn't find a single feather anywhere so I'm hoping he flew to the river with the wild ducks.
:( Sad though.
Really odd thing is Felisha his mate didn't call him.
I even put her in a small cage away from...
I just raised my first little group of ducks from hatchlings.
A male and female Gray Mallard and 2 Call ducks.
Finnegan my only male seemed happy with his three girls.
They just feathered out but showed no signs that they were ready to mate.
Fin doesn't even really quack loud yet.
I did trim...
I did separate them into a wire kennel inside the brooder.
When everyone goes out to the day yard with the pool they aren't mean. For some reason in the brooder they attack .
Everyone can be laying down and one of the new kids will charge and bite butts and wings.
So for now they are restricted.
:(
I had a nice little happy flock 7-8 week old chicks and 2 gray mallards.
The chicks use the mallards as fluffy pillows they all love each other.
I longed for call ducks and found 2 ..7 week old grays..hens.
I worried my mallards being g bigger would pick.on them.
No these tiny little fluffers...
