    "Greasy" head on hen

Is her tail up? Have those black spots always been on her comb? Is she preening as normal?

    Clavamox reaction

That dosage does seem really high. We have an 8 pound hen who was on clavamox after bumblefoot surgery. She was taking 125mg twice a day.

Comb - what are these markings?

I just noticed what looks like tiny scratches on the comb of my French Black Copper Maran, Chaps. She's been quarantined for a week because she had bumble foot surgery, so I don't think it's from another chicken (unless it happened over a week ago but I think I would have noticed before now)...

    HELP! Chicken badly injured beak

Definitely keep her separated from your flock because they will peck once they see the blood. She'll figure out how to eat; keep giving her the mash (chicken crumble mixed with water). This is best for her because it has all the nutrients she needs. While our hen (with injured beak) was...

    Broken bottom beak

Here is a comparison. The photo on the left is from the day we found her (a week after the attack). The right photo is from a couple week ago. About 2 months in between the photos.

    Broken bottom beak

Also, some beaks grow back, some do not. I think our chicken's beak is growing back, but at a snail's pace.

    Broken bottom beak

Our RIR was attacked by a hawk and lost most of her top and bottom beak. We fed her cat wet food for a few days (which she ate even with most of her beak gone and severe bruising, etc.). The beak has gone through many stages -- scabbing that looks like a new beak growing back, then the...

    Chicken's beak turned white

Is it maybe Favus? Would love someone else's input. I agree with MrsBrooke, though, that she doesn't look as healthy in the photo with the white beak. One of our hens was attacked by a hawk and lost most of her beak. We add water to her crumble (and stir) so it becomes like an oatmeal --...

    Chicken's beak turned white

The top beak looks different -- almost chipped (but maybe I'm just imagining it?). Was there any injury? Maybe there's a lack of blood flow? Just a guess. It is very strange.
