    electric fencing/netting

I am thinking of getting ducks again. Last year I ran into issues with foxes, which I could not solve, so I rehomed my ducks. I am thinking of putting electric fencing/netting around their area. I am looking for experienced opinions, advice and general knowledge. Thank you

    Fox attack advise!

Did you figure out a solution? Have you tried electric fencing or netting? thanks

    Fox attack

Hopefully you are still using this account. I had ducks last summer, but foxes got to them twice. I ended up giving away my last few ducks because no matter what I did they still got to them. Even though our property is a good size, I live in the suburbs and can't pick them off with a rifle...

How important is a pond for ducks

How important is it for a ducks to have a solid pond to use? I ask because until yesterday the info I came across was essentially that a kiddie pool is good enough for a few ducks. But I came across a video in which the person was talking about mistakes they made with ducks. They mentioned...

    Silver Appleyard questions

That is an absolutely ridiculous statement. Predators are always something to worry about, even with a strong coop. I am not in the position to use a rifle as I live in the suburbs, or have a livestock guardian, therefore I need to run out to the coop with a shovel to try to stop the predator...

Hey thank you, this was really helpful. I didn't know that about their personality.

    Silver Appleyard questions

Thanks, I am aware they are not the best egg layers, yet for my purposes they are a good fit. I have read repeatedly that they are not that skittish, especially in comparison to Khakis. I'll look into that more, from my experiences, sources contradicting each other is nothing new. Thanks again.

    Silver Appleyard questions

Hey thanks. I was looking at the drake more as a sacrificial speedbump, to buy time until I can get there.

    Silver Appleyard questions

I am close to ordering Silver Appleyards, but before doing so there are some questions I couldn't find any info for. Hopefully someone who is more knowledgeable than me can give there insight: I had khakis last year, but moved them on. They were waaay too skiddish. I am getting a less...

    predator injured hen

Thank all of you for your help, unfortunately when I returned outside shortly after making this post, she had passed. Yet this is useful info, God forbid any predators getting in after I have sured up their coop. Thank you again.

    predator injured hen

One of my hens was injured by a racoon or fox. She doesn't seem to be in much pain, so culling is not an option, and it is too early to tell if there is an infection. This is not a good time financially for me to take her to the vet. I have attached pics, what can be done?

Return ducks to coop after free ranging

Hello, today was the first time I could free range my Khakis (4). They are pretty much full grown. I was under the understanding that returning them to the coop would be "easy," because they are pretty herdable...That is not the case. I just spent an hour trying to get them back into their...
