Yea I agree with you. I watched a YouTube video yesterday on dubbing and I must say I felt very uneasy about it. I was just curious of how common it is to do that to the birds.
I wouldn’t worry about temp this time of yr. I’m in Tennessee and been hatching them all summer long without using a heat lamp at night but I do keep them in a brooder for about 3 weeks. I put them in a small pen during the day to let them play.
So I was at the sale barn today selling some birds and I was selling some of my BBs and one of my roosters was dubbed. It had a lot of people talking. I got my BBs last year at another sale barn and the rooster was like that when I bought them. What’s yalls opinion on dubbing birds?
Has anybody used any other automatic egg turner in their little giant incubator? It measures 15”x15”. I bought one for one of my incubators that was $47 off eBay and it works great but I’m looking for a cheaper one to go in my other one.
I have over 50 birds and half of those are ducks. From my experience I have to round them up 90% of the time. Chickens no problem but ducks don’t just sleepy at night. They will lay and feed. I also think it depends on the type of ducks also. MALLArds like to stay out but my Swedish Blues, Khaki...
I always keep my coop door open. My run is enclosed and secure. I like to leave my coop open so my ducks can lay and eat. If your run is secure I don’t see why you couldn’t leave the coop door open.
Yes it’s a mallard. I have another but it’s huge compared to my other ones even my one yr old ducks. It’s not even three months old. It white like a Pekin but a lot bigger.
