Hi all, one of my khaki girls has just (as in, in the last 30 min) started sounding like a squeak toy when she quacks.
She looks fine, is alert and isn't stressed. I put her in our quarantine crate I figured I'd see if anyone might have any ideas as to what's up.
We're a few hrs in and she can pull her tongue into her mouth now. I haven't seen her drink yet but she's stomping around and quacking occasionally. Shes usually a bit of a grump sohopefully she's on the mend.
So we're in the middle of torrential rain. I went out to check the ducks and one of the girls has wedged her head through the avery wire fence and got herself stuck (she had to be determined because it's a small mess).
I managed to get her out but she could have been like that for hours. Her...
I kind of suspected they might be later. It would be too much good luck to have 4 girls.
Unfortunately between the 4 of them and the khaki Campbell's it's a little hard to tell who quacking what.
Guess I'll just keep waiting.
Does anyone know if cayuga males develop their tail curl later than other breeds? I hatched 4 ducklings 3 months ago and I'm impatiently waiting to see what sex they all are.
I'm sure I saw somewhere that drakes get their curls between 8-12 weeks but I can't seem to find that info again.

Update: Baby number 4 is doing great. Eating drinking and pooping a ton.
The naval has receded and is nice and fluffy. I has lots of crusty gunk stuff in the down over one wing...
once i replenish my flock i plan to let them hatch their own. I will definatley use the incubator again if i cant get my girls to sit or i need it.
in a way its good because ive been able to identify what the issue was and how to prevent it happening again.
I'm located in Vicotria Australia...

Hello I came across this forum a few days ago and figured id join. I had an absolutely catastrophic hatch and information I found here was vital in helping me save 4 (1s still touch and go though so might only be 3) of the 6 ducklings that attempted to hatch. Its a long story so ill do a...
