Hello all.
I am looking for a new partner or mate for my adult drake. He lost his drake partner of 4 years last week, and it has been heartbreaking to see him the last few days.
I recently saw a raccoon on my camera in the run one night, and was not too worried, as I cage my ducks in a locked...
Hi. I am in Alabama, and my male Rouen just lost his best friend, who was also a drake.
I'm sorry for your loss.
My drake is so sad and it's heartbreaking. He has a mirror by his pool, but it's just keeping him preoccupied most of the time.
I have had them both for 4 1/2 years, so finding one...
Hi! I’ve been working a great new job, and it’s kept me BUSY.
Due to the numerous cautionary replies to my post about bringing my ducks to my lake with the Bald Eagles and their nest, I have my three drakes living at my old house, and being well taken care of by my good friend - who is always...
I have the same faith, so no judgement here. 🌻
Thank you for your reply!
The area I plan on keeping them has many trees right by the lake edge.
There are sooo many squirrels and other small prey in the area. We also have an enormous amount of fish in the lake, and I’ve seen the eagles catching...
Hi!
I began posting about my four drakes last year. 😊
It’s been awhile since I have been here due to my having separated and moved out of my previous home.
I have moved to my father’s property, where we have a beautiful small private lake.
I had to leave my drakes behind with my ex husband...
Oh, I’m so sorry to hear you lost one of your girls!
I’m new to ducks, myself; my two oldest boys will be reaching one year in a couple of months. I wish I had help for you, but I am not fully educated on their common diseases just yet.
I hope you find a strong diagnosis, and, if so, please...
(Please forgive the long post!!)
All four of my ducks are my babies. They’re spoiled rotten, eating fresh tomatoes, lettuces, and watermelon along with their standard duck food every day, and I make personal trips to the store to have all these treats, fresh bedding, and more; and they also have...
That second picture looks a lot like my two Rouen boys when they were about 8-10 weeks! Just slightly darker plummage. They are both beautiful drakes now.
I would definitely guess Rouen/Cayuga mix. Beautiful bird! ❤️
I’m happy to say that the duckling is just fine. I don’t know what caused her temperature to shoot up like that, but she is back to normal temp and eating fine and happy! 😄
Thank you for your help and concern!!
Hey everyone. One of my two ducklings is extremely hot to the touch. Her/his legs are so hot it’s even uncomfortable to touch them.
Any advice? Just kind of worried. My other duckling’s temp seems fine.
Ruth hope - you have no idea how much happier you have just made me!! Thank you for taking the time to reply to my post!
I love my big boys, and the thought of anything besides them just being themselves had me truly worried!
Thanks again!
😊😊😊
(Please excuse all the photos - I have SO many, and I couldn’t choose which to add, they’re all so cute!!)
Hi, I have two beautiful Rouen drakes, raised from ducklings. I have nurtured and loved them, and they follow me EVERYWHERE. Stroking them and petting their chests(gullets? lol) comes...
I have been keeping a close watch on the duckies, noting any changes in behavior or poo or eating habits, and now that we're nearly through the day I must admit I haven't seen the slightest change in any of the above except their poo was very watery all day long..
Dunkin still giving me long...
