Best way I've found yet to deal with snake problems!!

In all my days of farming, being a zoo keeper and now keeping birds as a hobby, I found that predators are opportunistic. I keep all my birds in an aviary that is completely covered in wire that is too small for critters that want to eat my birds, to get through. I also have concrete blocks on...

    Parrots outdoors?

I have heard of some zoos keeping mustache parakeets in outdoor aviaries year around. I wouldn't keep them in aviaries made of wood because parrots are very destructive.

    Thinking about a small avairy

How big of an aviary are you thinking about? Pheasants are a great "hands off" bird. Finches are nice aviary birds also.

The finch didn't survive, but thanks for your help.

Thank you so much for replying to my post. The vet said it was neurological so we had her put to sleep. I was hoping it was going to be a quick fix with a heat lamp, but no.

    Best parrot?

I have owned all kinds of parrots and they'll have moments of screaming...all of them. Start off with hand fed budgies. But please know that all birds are moody, beautiful and loud. Tree fell on aviary

This is a male red bishop ... I pulled this pic off the web. The females are dull gray, but I still think they are beautiful.

    Tree fell on aviary

Tony you were right. I noticed that another of the female Amherst and a single red bishop female were missing last night, I looked for any dead bodies that I might have missed while the aviary was being repaired and I found none. I left a safety door open to the outside with food for the escaped...

    Tree fell on aviary

When I got up this morning I saw the down tree on top of the aviary...I thought it was a bad dream. I am just glad it was only one pheasant that was killed. The tree was removed and the damage was fixed in less than a day.
