it is a mexican hairless dog - pronounced show-low-eets-queentlee. they are very rare and the aztec and mayan cultures had them. their skin feels like rubber!
Does anyone know anything about a showgirl mutation called "Columbian"? The coloring is white with black and gray tail feathers and wing tips. Rather lovely, but I don't know anything about them. ????
I'm an editor and my one suggestion is: don't forget to write a paragraph about the "hairy eyeball" you get from some chicks when they just stare at you to decide if you are worth the trouble. Otherwise - so good!!
Thank goodness I live out in the woods with no neighbors. Someone gave me my hive of bees because their neighbors made them get rid of them and called the county because of the "danger". So glad I live where I do!! Good luck with the grouchy neighbor.
Mine are two days old and their momma took them outside. It is really hot in Florida, so they are OK, BUT they can fit right through the chicken wire, so I found them running around in the yard! I have to figure out how to keep them safe now......
Today I bought 6 Showgirl eggs that are about a week along, so I'm hoping for a hatch on the 30th. I have a broody Showgirl hen that I put them under and she is in heaven with her new job. This is my first attempt at growing chicks, so wish me luck!! The eggs are from some beautiful bearded...
I gave my flock some leftover garlic pasta the other night. They loved it. The next morning when I opened the coop, instead of stinky chicken poop, it smelled like an Italian restaurant! Its rather pleasant! I'm guessing the eggs will have a garlic flavor, too.
i have a question on this subject. i bought an ameraucana pullet but i think it is a roo. i caught it mounting one of my hens. this bird has never made a peep, let alone a crow. what do you think?

can someone give me info on what to do with a hen that won't get off the nest. i take away the egg each day and carry her out for food, but she just goes right back on the nest???
