She started laying at about 5 months & was always consistent. Now I'm questioning something happening while I was out of town. May have to ask the gal who was here.
I noticed about a couple weeks ago my super friendly 7month old Appenzeller pullet started becoming aggressive towards me. Cackles up, jumping back as if to fight me & fierce pecking. She never did this before. We had left town for Labor Day & she was this way when we returned. She has actually...
I have a 15 month old Ameraucana( maybe? She lays light olive) that has stopped laying eggs. She was never a very consistent layer, but it has now been about 6 weeks. She eats, poops, walks, & acts normal. There have been so many coop changes over the last few months; one hen died; we introduced...
She has always been on the smaller side. Nothing near her vent was swollen. I don't know much about crop issues... Didn't realize that could cause balding. She didn't lose her feathers quickly. It had been 3-4 weeks which is why I thought maybe a molt. I am so sad. We are actually out of town &...
I have a chicken who has been laying eggs & acting normal. She has been losing feathers & I would catch her eating them. Thought maybe it was a lack of protein. Began supplementing with eggs, mealworms, & tuna. Found her dead in the coop this afternoon. All other chickens are fine. No mites or...
Here are some pictures. She now has another bare spot on the other leg. U gave her some scrambled eggs this morning & tuna tonight. Will try and get a way to hang a cabbage for boredom. She is the only chicken that is having the issue.
Thanks for the suggestions. I will try the added protein. I had a swing in the coop, but no one used it. I will definitely try the hanging cabbage & the frozen treats sound easy enough.
I noticed that my Black Minorca has been bare chested for quite some time. It isn't red or bloody, just pink like skin would look. There also does seem to be some new growth. I first thought maybe she was having her first molt, but since then I have noticed another bare spot on her leg & then...
So the discoloration was only after I ”treated” it. When I first noticed it, it seemed more red and slightly larger with a small scab looking area. I don't think she is being bullied. Will keep an eye on it. Hopefully it will heal soon. I'm not going to use anything but the vet antiseptic spray...
I noticed the other day my chickens earlobe was more red than normal with a tiny ”scab”. I cleaned it with hydrogen perioxide and applied neosporin. The next day it appeared darker in color and the feathers underneath we also almost gray. What could be going on? She is 7 months old Buff...
