    Keeping Sheep & Goats together...

Hey! Yes, Mini Nubians are a mixed breed. They are a Nigerian Dwarf goat mixed with a Nubian Goat. Our girls are about 3/4 Nigerian and 1/4 Nubian. I'm not sure, but I do not think they are recognized by the ADGA, but maybe they are in the "developmental process" or something along those...

    Keeping Sheep & Goats together...

Is it common for goats to gang up on sheep? I have read that sheep can be pretty docile. The goats were born in September of last year and the sheep was born in October of last year. None of them are even a year old and they are all naturally polled.

    Keeping Sheep & Goats together...

I know this site is directed more towards birds than anything else, but, do any of you keep goats with sheep? If so, any issues other than mineral supplements? I have to Mini Nubian goats and I am considering adding one Sheep to their Herd to help with clearing the Jungle here in Hawaii. I...

Does anyone use Scratch & Peck Layer Feed? Do you feel it is worth the extra money spent?

Aloha! I am located on the BI of Hawaii. The primary feed brand here is Nutrena -- it seems to be what almost all of the feed stores carry. I would like to up-grade my chickens to an Organic feed and am considering Scratch & Peck. The price of Scratch & Peck is nearly twice what we pay for...

    Fermenting Nutrena Layer Crunmbles! ...

Hey! We are thinking of going this same route as well. I want them to get the benefit of fermenting feed -- but, I want to make sure they have enough feed. We are trying this method with our Black Copper Marans now -- since they seem to eat more. As for switching from Nutrena to Scratch &...

    Fermenting Nutrena Layer Crunmbles! ...

Thank you for this information -- I think the problem may be that they're not getting enough to eat, BC they eat their bowl SO fast. Like, it's gone in about 20-30 minutes. I have been following this 1/3 LB feed per bird thing that I keep seeing, but, maybe that's just not enough! Maybe it's 1/3...

    Fermenting Nutrena Layer Crunmbles! ...

I have looked high and low and I can't find any information on a decrease in laying brought on by fermenting feed! I hope some folks will get back to us. It's really quite annoying -- makes me sad every time I go out and there aren't any eggs. All I read about are the benefits! ...

Aloha from the Big Island of Hawaii! ...

    1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens? - We got our first Chickens about two years ago! We started off with around 10 and now we have around 60. (2) How many chickens do you have right now? - Whoops! I jumped the gun in my 1st answer section. We have around 60 chickens...

    Fermenting Nutrena Layer Crunmbles! ...

Aloha! Writing from the Big Island of Hawaii. I have been considering switching from Nutrena to Scratch & Peck. The issue is, no one carries Scratch & Peck in Hawaii. In order to get Scratch & Peck to the Big Island, I would have to create a wholesale account with them, order a ton at a time...
