5 weeks old two died suddenly this morning

I had 18 in a portioned off section of my enclosed coop and found two dead this morning. No trauma. One had a small amount of blood on her bottom. I shoveled out the pine shavings and then used Lysol before laying down new shavings. The ground is damp as we have had 6 inches of rain in the...

If feed stores closed and you can’t free range...

I think this is a completely awesome comment....and a month ago wouldn’t even be needed. However, I will be keeping an extra bag of laying pellets when o get out next week. My chickens free range but are not consistent layers without a quality layer pellet.

Eye infections overnight 3 of 9 have symptoms

My chickens stopped laying about a week ago. No symptoms until today. Two have their eye nearly shut and the third has a discharged. What could this be? I put neosporin on all three tonight and ordered terramycin.

Cold Weather chick being "to" still

She is up and around today. I syringed electrolytes three times yesterday. As of today at the bottom portion of her neck close to the breast area it feels full but soft. She has been drinking water on her own. But seems to feel better.

Cold Weather chick being "to" still

They have been out for four weeks tomorrow. I feed a high protein pellet and an organic scratch. The food I have has oyster shell in it. She is drinking, but instead of standing up in one place she is laying down.

I began raising 6 Rhode Island Reds I purchased as chicks in April of 2016. I have been hooked ever since. I only have three of the original, two died on excessively hot days, and the third died after taken to the vet, where they determined she had a possible genetic issue causing her to be...
