The ones that stopped laying are newer easter egger chickens though that I got in the spring. They started laying their colorful eggs and I haven't seen the eggs since the de-worming which was probably 2 months ago.
A few months ago I noticed my two older chickens were missing their chest feathers and looked like their other feathers were freying. I thought it was mites and treated the whole flock for mites doing a DE bath and coop clean out several weeks in a row. I never saw mites it was just my guess...
I've read that I don't need a heat lamp for my coop even in these cold WI winters, but to make sure it's draft free. I have an automatic door on the coop so do I just disable it and keep them confined to the coop when it's below freezing, or should I allow them outdoor access if they want it...
Thanks for the responses! I'm sure the ISAs killed the EE, and I had set up hiding spots with roosts and logs in the run, I actually found her in a hiding spot dead. My coop is 6'X6' by 5 feet tall with an attached run that is 12'X6' and 6' tall, so I was thinking big enough to handle 4 birds...
So I posted a while ago about introducing my one EE to my flock of 3 ISA Browns. I did it slow and although they seemed to peck her once in a while, no one had been hurt. Well this morning I checked on the girls and everyone seemed ok, but when I got home from work the 3 ISA Browns had killed...
Thanks aart! I put the EE in the big coop now with the others in the little coop and will try to introduce one at a time in the next week or so. At least I have a plan now :-)
My big coop is 6'X6' by 5 feet tall with an attached run that is 12'X6' and 6' tall.
I've kept the EE in a dog crate next to the coop for about a month so they can see each other. Then I tried free ranging everyone, and they all chased the EE into hiding and still kept pecking. I tried to put...
i have 3 ISA browns that I got in March, two of which are laying. Then I got two Easter eggers in May, but one ended up being a rooster and had to go. I've tried several times and different ways of introducing the Easter egger to the flock and it's just not going well. Right now she's in a...
hello, I am very new at chickens so I was hoping someone could help with my situation. I got 3 isa brown chicks mid March, then beginning of May I came across some Easter egger chicks so of course I had to get two. I'm pretty sure one of the Easter eggers is a rooster since the last few days...
Hello, I'm very new to the whole chicken thing but can someone tell me if they think this EE born beginning of May is a roo or not. The tail is longer than my other EE, but today when he/she was in a play yard next to my 14 week old ISA brown pullets it kept pecking a[/IMG]t them. Any ideas...
Hello! I just wanted to stop by and say "Hello!" I'm a chicken newbie and am still learning the ropes. Currently, I'm a SAHM to a 3 year old and a 1 year old, and the kids are loving these new chicks of ours. I have 3 ISA Brown Chicks that are about a week old. From what I've read the ISA...
