    Buff orpington gender

I'm quite sure she's a she. I was sold a cockerel Buff Orp by mistake and the comb is full, bright and tall. Also, most importantly, he's also exactly 19 weeks and is crowing like mad. And has been for two or three weeks now! as well as chasing the pullets around! As a side bar --- I...

    Sexing My Ducklings?

You'll def hear the distinct semi quack - like a fart and a belch - it's kinda funny-- from the girl- at approx 6 to 8 wks -- and also a tad later the drake will be whistling etc if they are separated or w/ any stress but no quack.

I lost my 1st post about lossing 2 RIR's - things were going well for the 10 eight week olds and two Kahki Cambell Ducks.

Yes, coyotes and all the various predators but in this case it had to have jumped the four foot fence and then attacked only ONE hen and did not do any damage to others ( nor the infrastructure ) before figuring out how to flee etc. I agree the major land predators would consume every bit of the...

I've come to the conclusion it may have been a hawk as there is a big Red Tail around lately. At first I thought no,m - as even the feet and beak & head etc were gone. Any idea if they do that? We are in Wisconsin farm country. Run is netted over now. Hoping that raptor flies into it!

The predator left a short length of entrail and nutt'n else. Not even the feet! Just feathers --anyone know what it may have been? Oh, middle of the day! They are fenced but I'll have to cover the large area ( once free range - no more. Sumthin's got their 'number').
