Not really sure because we had to buy a lot of the tools too. So now we are set up for more projects! But the materials alone was maybe $700? That's for materials for the coop and run, and we have a lot of hardware cloth, paint and Blackjack 57 leftover. I wish they sold smaller containers as...
The ground was sand but we have put hog fuel down. It has been raining a LOT so it's pretty wet and therefore dark right now. Sweet PDZ is helping a lot with that. If I left it dirt it would be mud right now and we have too many trees to allow enough sun for grass back there. So hog fuel was our...

Here is the link. They have a lot of pictures of the inside. The plans aren't perfect but with some minor adjustments it works. It's a nice, solid coop.
The coop is 32 sf so I guess that would make the swing set area closer to 70. I'm pretty sure the total run area is 100. Anyway, we have one large nesting box that is blocked off right now as the hens are only 2 months old. I might add a divider to it, we will see how they do when the time...
We put hardware cloth around the legs of the coop to give them more room in the run, so it is a total of about 100 sf. The swing set area alone I think was about 80 sf or so. Lots of room for our 8.
I have seen so many really cool coop designs here and I wanted to share before and after pictures of our recently completed project. We got 8 baby chicks and built them a coop. We got the plans from the Home Depot website. We had an existing ancient swing set in our backyard so we enclosed it...
Well, I decided to go with the Brinsea brooder instead of a heat lamp, even though it Is expensive. In the past few years quite a few people in my town have had fires from heat lamps. Some lost their barn and animals, some had major damage to their house. No fire risk with the Brinsea. That made...

Your coop is nicer than my house! Haha. Very well done. Impressive. We are building our coop and run now and I see a few clever things you did with yours that we might implement in our much smaller scale project. Thanks for sharing your project. I loved watching the progress and the video tour...
I wanted to introduce myself and just say thank you to everyone here who have been so helpful to me. Our family has been thinking about having chickens for a few months. We have never had chickens before! During my research every question I entered into Google popped up this forum as a place for...
