What should I watch out for within the next week or two? I should mention that both of these chicks are twice the size of the others that are the same age.
I have two 4 week old chicks and I’m starting to think two of them might be roos. Any idea?
white one is a Plymouth Rock
Black one is a Silver laced Wyandotte
any thoughts?
Hey everyone.
I have 4 werk old chicks. All are doing well; eating, drinking, scratching, and growing! One of the four consistently has weird poops. The other three have typical pellet like poops that are brownish. This one has orangey/brown slimey (maybe not the best word to describe) poop. She...
Hello everyone!
The last week has gone really well with all my chicks. If you have followed my other posts, you know I’ve had pasty butt and temp problems. I thought all was going well until today... I noticed that my white Plymouth Rock (who has grown twice as fast as the others) is looking a...
They are about 2 weeks old. I think the issue is the shed is already warmer inside on the hot days and with their heat lamp (even in one spot) it is causing the inside to be even hotter. One of them appeared to be panting (breathing with an open mouth). I just don’t want to over heat them.
Hey y’all, me AGAIN!
I feel like things keep changing so new questions come up.
I am curious how to regulate chick temps on a hot day. We keep having these random 1-2 days where it is 80+ then the rest of the time it’s rainy and cold. How do y’all regulate their temp with a heat lamp and...
Yeah, I think this is what they are doing. They sleep in a pile, but I figure if they are to cold they would be under the heat lamp and if they were to hot they wouldn’t be sleeping in a big pile together.
They are doing really well! I raised the heat lamp a bit which has helped pull them off the perimeter a little bit. But I think they may just enjoy laying in this one particular corner. They are almost 2 weeks old and they are really coming out of their shell 😂 They are playing more, running...
That’s what I thought, but they still choose to sleep on the perimeter in a pile on top of each other. The heat lamp is quite warm under there and I’ve left it on the warmer side because it’s still low 50’s and into the 40’s at night.
😂😂 yes, they are super active. Trying to flutter around, eating, drinking, pooping. It just confuses me why they always go to the wall. There brooder is rather large so they have the option to go under the heat, on th endge of the heat, or away from it all together. Just trying to understand if...
