    Sudden aggression?

Hi again! I have posted pictures of the coop in the shed and the shed that they live in. Like I said before they don’t stay in that coop, the doors are open to come and go. And there are windows, but yes I am working hard to have their area completed. But check out the pictures and let me know :)

    Sudden aggression?

I am working on their enclosed outdoor space every day but it is taking some time to complete! They have complete free range of this shed, with an inside coop that they have free access to go in and out of. As I said, they have multiple waterers and feeders, a big dust bath, and designated...

    Sudden aggression?

Thanks for your reply! Yes I’ve been working each day on fixing their outdoor area. I’m a little wary of free ranging simply because we recently had a hawk attack (no losses thank god) but it really scared me. The shed is (roughly because I am not entirely sure) 20 feet by 15 feet, and then they...

    Sudden aggression?

I have four chickens living like queens in a big shed (their outdoor area isn’t ready yet). They have multiple waterers and feeders and normally seem to be happy, besides some pecking from our top girl Gwen who’s a few years older than the other three. The order was Gwen, Chichi, Inari, &...

What should a chicken’s breath smell like?

Hi all! Just a bit nervous about sour crop. My girl Chichi was sitting on my leg when she adjusted her crop, like when they do that big “yawn.” I smelt a quick whiff of something sour, but then while holding her and trying to sniff her breath I smelt nothing. Her crop also doesn’t feel full but...

Fear trilling when I pick them up?

This is what I was getting the name from. A website with an article listing different chicken sounds had this — “Fear trill-Loud, sharp repeated sound that says “Don't hurt me!””

Fear trilling when I pick them up?

I’m actually not home right now. But it sounds similar to happy trilling but a lot more shrill and loud. Definitely an afraid call. Let me try to find a video.

Fear trilling when I pick them up?

Hi all! I have four chickens. One is a 2 year old d’uccles who is tame to a fault. Then I have three who are the same age and they are 22 weeks. Two easter eggers and a brahma bantam! I handled them every single day and still do handle them every single day. Chichi, one of my easter eggers...

Can chickens eat boiled apples as a warm winter treat?

I’m trying to think of some more warm treats to give them as it gets colder, as they’ve had a lot of quinoa, rice, & oatmeal lately! Could I boil some apples and give it to them warm? I know they can eat raw apples (and they all have before) but with the bean thing with toxicity if not...

Clear watery poo from an otherwise healthy hen?

Okay! Thank you a ton. I have an avian vet that has seen one of my chickens before, so I’ll be able to have them treated if anything. Sometimes having pets can be so nerve racking can’t it? I love them so much but all the diseases are so crazy and hard to keep track of. But thanks again!

Clear watery poo from an otherwise healthy hen?

Alright, so I’ll look out for blood in the droppings, worms in the droppings, and lethargy. And yeah, I know that coccidiosis can be lethal, so my stomach dropped when I saw that! Is blood in the poo like a sign that it’s too late? Or is that a first signs

Clear watery poo from an otherwise healthy hen?

Alright! That’s good to hear! Yeah, as I said she’s still her cuddly, active self. I just looked it up and the first and second and third things I saw were all about coccidiosis and other diseases and I kind of immediately just went to the worst. I’ll keep you posted if anything changes! What...

Clear watery poo from an otherwise healthy hen?

She’s a 22 week old Easter egger. She hadn’t laid yet and is eating, drinking, running, flying, just being her normal self. I’m not entirely sure if all her poops have been like this, but I have seen some “stains” on the top of the coop that look similar. (She is currently in the shed with her...

Respiratory illness or gapeworm? Unsure which or how to treat! Help!

I have four chooks. Three of them grew up together and are 12 weeks old. The other is 2 years old. They are all around each other and live together now. One of the 12 week olds Inari was making some weird noises when cuddling for about a week now. Since she is eating, drinking, and acting...

2 month old pullet making whistling sound when breathing out? Only when relaxed and not constant.

She also sometimes stretches her neck to breathe. I gave her some olive oil soaked bread thinking she had something stuck and she has not done it since.
