Thanks for the kind response. They have approached my property a couple of times , more or less asking for things. They spoke to my other half and were asking questions on if we free range. Definitely seem aware. I’m going to try putting a cheap fence up on my side of what I think is the area...
I have some new neighbors, who got a flock of chickens. There’s 20 or so flock. I have an establish flock which I mostly keep in an enclosed pen. My property has woods that border. We both have green pastures on both sides. I just have more woods and brush. I hadn’t had a problem. But I prefer...
That’s of non-bearded silkies? For the wattles?
Other breeds I’m much more familiar with, just the non-bearded has me the most stomp. Hopefully it’s a bossy hen.
Thank you, I’m hoping she is a pullet. I’ve never owned a non bearded silkie. So I’m not sure how soon waddles could come in. My bearded have not had waddles.
The only thing is this one is very bold and will chest bump at my hand. Hoping they sexed this right at the hatchery. I had 4 chicks...
I have to say, that sometimes times there are underlying conditions that come up once they start laying. If she is willing to eat and drink and move than she stands a chance. However when chickens go down, they go down fast.
Another thought is injury. But again it can be hard to tell.
Hey everyone, while I know that gender can not be determined until they provide an egg or crow, I have one stumped. I ordered sexed pullets from the hatchery. 2 bearded and 1 non bearded is what I have.
The non bearded is a lot bigger than the bearded silkies.
I started to notice what...
Hey, these are two barred Plymouth Rock which are 6 weeks turning 7 weeks. It’s a bit early still. However when viewing them from the top one was a lot darker and one was lighter (could be one is maturing later?). The lighter one has a smaller comb and waddle. The darker one has a larger waddle...
it’s just aweful. For her to go out that way. Literally killed by her own son and was about to turn 9years old. She had a beautiful life. My first chicken too.
Treats and food and slowly approach and redirect with a few people. Mine do anything for food :) occasionally that last chicken you leave until night fall and hope you can scoop it up and put it into the coop.
Thank you all, for your words and tips. I think he will have to go 😔. I don’t want anyone else to get hurt or the dog. He attacked me again, this time he ran into the butterfly net. He just kept charging at me when I got him into the enclosure.
Even when I think he is intimidated by me, he...
Rooster advice please. I’m on the fence with this boy and have been for over a year. He attacked his father last year , once he turned 1year old, so we caged him to his own coop in view of everyone. His dad (father rooster) passed away in February.
Today I decided to try and see if he can do...
