    Silkie thread!

I had the SAME problem! My hen hatched 7 eggs in April, and I'm only now figuring out that 5 of the 7 are roosters! It was very ambiguous until they started trying to crow! This is very disappointing because NOW I have to find homes for 5 roosters! Any suggestions?

    TINY egg?!?

That's hilarious! That's exactly what my son called it--an egg fart! I had NO idea that pullets were capable of laying at 4 months old! :-p

    TINY egg?!?

So.... I went to gather the eggs today and received the oddest gift! I can identify the egg on the left as one that I typically get from my American game hens & the one in the middle as from my Silky hen.... But the one on the right has me confused! I do have several pullets that were hatched...

Why Aren't My Chickens Laying? Here Are Your Answers!

You were SO right!!..... I went to check after reading your post last night & she had 7 eggs under her.... This morning, I went to check again, and--sure enough--there were 8 eggs! I marked them all as you suggested. I think 8 chicks would be the most either the chicken or *I* could handle...

Why Aren't My Chickens Laying? Here Are Your Answers!

My hens all started laying over the last month. As of about a week ago, I was getting 4 eggs/day out of my 5 hens.... However, one of my hens decided to go broody about 3 days ago. And now all of the other hens seem to have just stopped laying! Even though we have 2 brooding boxes, all of the...

My town changed it law but there is no wording for roosters

I am not allowed roosters in my county. Unfortunately, one of the 2 Silkies that I got as hatchlings ended up being a rooster.... I couldn't bring myself to harvest him (he's too small yet anyway) nor give him to any of the people in our area that keep roosters (because I was afraid they would...
