With my Easter hatch coming soon, I've been hoping for a broody. A very unlikely candidate started hanging out in the nest box for a few days and is now grumbling at me.
It's my golden Spitzhauben, Sprinkles. They are not considered a broody breed. I wonder what kind of mother she will be.

Probably not, but I haven't eaten it yet. She has always had longer shaped eggs that have grown larger over the years. The shell is still good quality when compared to some of my 5-8 yr old hens. This hen had earned Best in Show for her eggs 4 different years. However, these past few years...

I will have some hatching just in time for Easter.....
Also, think about baby poults and ducklings and quail. But, ALWAYS say yes to chickens. ;)
On a serious note, good luck on the job interviews.
@Waskaie
Just wondering if you had issues with your NR360 dropping temp dramatically when chicks begin to hatch. Mine works great until lockdown. I must increase temp to compensate but that only goes so far.
Once the chicks begin to hatch the humidity grows higher and I believe the...
Look what I found in the coop today!
Hen 1 sat on eggs.
Hen 2 sat on Hen 1. I haven’t seen poor Hen 1’s face for weeks ! Chickens can be so silly sometimes.
This reminds me of DS's 4-H project we did a couple years ago. He took the 2 doz eggs you gave us and packed up half for shipping. (You know wrapping each egg in bubble wrap, in center of box with foam peanuts, inside another bigger USPS priority box with more padding to protect the center...
