Last pic = looks like he’s arguing with a Spitzhauben
I’m wondering if I mis-identified this chick. Thought female at hatch (which was only 20 days ago) but WOW the comb is big. The feathers are also different.
Looks like a little guy to me!Here are the siblings.
First pic: Chick in question is on right. Has more white on the feathers
Second pic is how I expect a pullet to look.
You may be correct on your suspect cockerel... the white head spot is not a tight female spot but more irregular head splashing. Pullets will retain the black shaded front shanks & toe tops for quite a while before the leg shading disappears completely. If your suspected cockerel starts losing toe/shank leg shading before the other chicks it may be a boy. A boy's feather growth will be more silver striping than black. Here are the siblings.

So sorry for your loss!!You may be correct on your suspect cockerel... the white head spot is not a tight female spot but more irregular head splashing. My Dominique girls kept their leg/toe shading for several weeks:
Three 5-day-old pullets w/ very solid dark toes

35 days old & still have their leg/toe shading

2 months old - toes still shaded & they had the prettiest blue eyes that turned reddish-bay by 4 months old.

Did you want a roo? They are spectacular in appearance & once past their hormonal idiot teenage stage are very good boys. I'm not zoned for roo's.
We lost out last Dominique "Dana" in November. She was over 8 yrs old.

We have only 4 Silkies left in the yard. These will be our last birds as we are getting too old to continue chickeneering after 15 yrs now
