Checking-In On Peeps - Post Here To Say Hello!

Busy as always, it's spring! Spent the winter building a new henhouse so I can expand my organic egg flock. Also fenced in more pasture so I can rotate them to fresh grass as needed. Picked up this batch of assorted bantam chicks from the local feed store for the wife's "kitchen scraps" flock...

    Sliding door.

Does anyone have a sliding barn door as your walk in door to your henhouse? Does it work well? Is it tight enough to keep unwanteds out? House will be 12x20, roughly following a 1950's plan that has a 4' barn door. I think it would be great for cleaning. What cons can you see?

Camper coop! My family thinks I'm crazy!

Yes, I added the shed roof to keep the door and window areas dry in our PNW environment. This is the only other pic I have. I enclosed the bottom so I don't need to crawl under to get eggs but did leave some of the rear side open so they can hide from predator's and get out of the sun if they...

Camper coop! My family thinks I'm crazy!

As promised. welcome to Duckington Palace. It houses 20 Welsh Harlequins and 7 EE. It's been pouring rain for 3 days and the ducks love it! Chickens not so much, go figure. Dropping board under the perch keeps the ducks clean.

    Lost a chicken, but how?

No blood tells me weasel. They will pull the head off and eat/drink the blood, eat the gizzard and move on to the next one.

Camper coop! My family thinks I'm crazy!

Duckington Palace was an old pop-up camper with a free sign sitting on the side of the road. I couldn't get home to get the tow vehicle fast enough! I raised it up, gutted it, put a two by four upright in each corner, then sided with free galv. roofing from my neighbor. Built them a ramp, added...

    HI, Like you I'm Addicted!

Hi my name is Job and I raise chickens, ducks and geese. I can't do chicken math. I've raised poultry for over 55 years. In high school (FFA) I raised 700 egg layers and show birds. Now I have EE for their green eggs that my granddaughter loves, Welsh Harlequin Ducks and Pilgrim Geese. Love my...
