Yes this was very clear! I have one that would be the hen on the tail end with giant red comb and wattles loll. But this makes me think Polly is a Pullet :) time will tell thanks for sharing!
Tax: lil buff orp named Fonda 💛
Might this be a good place to ask a similar question? I’ve got two black copper marans who are 7 weeks old. One with a nice copper neck dark body and small paler comb, who im pretty sure is an hen. The one pictured here has a brighter copper neck, seemingly pointier hackle feathers and more...
We love us some Polly/Pauly. Tell me… am I seeing saddle feathers? Crest still looks puffy to me but the hackle and saddle are making me scratch my chin!!
Behavior is still very hen-like and rather demure. 8 weeks and no hint of red wattle/comb either.
This chicken now has random bits of tan and buff on the wings! lol it’s mutt for sure! But I’m now seeing some pointy hackle feathers, along with this massive red comb at barely 9 weeks (Wednesday) so I’m certain it’s male, and not a Delaware. Who the heck knows but he’s going to auction cause...
Well this isn’t exactly the flock photo yall asked for, but I’m a proud mama with my chooks roosting for the first time! All 13 lined up 😭 yes, I did have to block off the nesting boxes but it was totally worth it and only took 3 days for them to figure this out 😜
Flock update- 7/8 weeks old...
Ok! Sounds good. I’ll try and catch her again tomorrow to soak again (epsom and then triple ab). I’m instincts were good cause that’s what I did first! Now I know why she was avoiding me before cause she was in pain 😢
What did you end up doing to help heal the chicken? My 6 week old black copper maran had the same problem. I soaked off the mud tourniquet and now it’s red and sore with some serious growth issues on that toe. Pics below! I tried some cream but she wouldn’t let me put a bandage on so she’s now...
Thank you for this! So we found two sneaky black feathers, one in the tail! There’s hope yet! But also yeah, comb and wattles are big so still thinking it’s male. But probably not a leghorn, nor a well bred Delaware.
Thank you! Right? Very sus.
Have you heard about dominant female chickens taking on male characteristics? This is definitely my top chicken right now. It is flapping at others, stealing bugs/herbs (treats) and otherwise being very precocious. Also all things that a young roo would do too, lol...
@SweetieChicken234 can I ask you to please weigh in on this? I see you breed Delawares! As of today we have a single black tail feather with no barring. Wattles are a little bigger today than Friday. 6 weeks old, and photos above are otherwise still a good representation. Purchased at Wilco Farm...
Here my Twofer! 6 week old EE and a 5 week black austra. Fun in the coop this morning🐥 It’s been pouring here for days and I’m looking forward to some sunshine to finish the run!
