Sigh it’s driving me nuts! Out of 26 hens, I KNOW who lays what. But my newest members started laying the same time. Ish. The MOST confusing part is the size. It looks like a bantam egg to me. But the only bantams I’ve got not laying (that I know of) are my bantam polishes but I read their eggs will be white. This egg is small and blue. I only have 2 breeds that lay green or blue eggs. My Brahma mixes and my Americaunas (could be EEs who really knows).
From bottom to top: my Brahma hens big and green.
Then my blue egg from one of my Americaunas.
Then the suspect!
The top brown one is from my bantam Wyandotte.
The little blue one..it’s my 6th or 7th one like this. Every other day.
Any ideas???

My pullets’ eggs were on the small side at first but gradually increased in size. Maybe another of your EEs/Ameri-whatsits have started?

That’s what I was thinking, but it’s so small. It’s fine it honestly doesn’t matter. They taste amazing. It just drives me bananas not knowing. I even moved my camera monitor to catch her in the act, but she’s slick. In and out without me ever seeing her! (I think it’s for spite because I changed the brand of mealworms lol).

Ah-ha! I found the culprit! I went into the coop to take my broody out to do her business and by happenstance I caught my EE/americauna, bearded lady coming off the nest with a mini blue egg freshly (still sticky fresh) laid egg! Whew.. now to figure out who fathered my latest hatch…lol.

The last of my 12 newly laying pullets was a bearded white and brown Ameraucana and she lays the smallest green eggs! So cute! I will miss this little egg when hers grow bigger like her sis’s, and then it’ll be harder to tell them apart. Cheers to drowning in eggs!!

Do you remember how long they laid these mini eggs? I’m just curious. These little eggs are the perfect size for my youngest son’s breakfast :)

Awww I also give these to my kids for breakfast! My girl Shelly started laying on 7/31 and she has laid 6 of these perfect small green eggs since. The other EE Ruthie began laying on 7/21 while I was out of town (OF COURSE my chicken sitter got all the excitement of 4 new layers😆) and now her eggs compare in size more to my “medium” brown layers. Shelly is 23 weeks and smaller in size than the other EE so maybe this will be her egg size for a while!
