Six little chickens-I actually read that article today. I went out and added straw and wood pellets to the floor of the coop and gave it a good stir to dry up any moisture that may be in there. I also loaded straw into the nesting boxes hoping to insulate more.
In a few days we will be down to...
I can take pics tomorrow. His wattles are discolored around the outside edges, I just don’t want it to get worse. He’s such a sweetheart, but I hate to remove him from his ladies.
Hello, I have a beautiful rooster with a large comb and wattles. It went down to 18 degrees last night, and today I’ve noticed he has a bit of frostbite on the edges of his wattle. His comb looks fine. I’ve recently moved him to a larger coop (Over Easy-large) with 10 hens and him in it. We are...
I had asked over the summer if anyone knew the temperament of these Roos, since I had a surprise roo with my last batch of pullets. I had planned on rehoming him, but it fell through and I decided to keep him as long as he behaved. Attached are pics of my Ed Norton. He is the sweetest roo I’ve...
I ended up with a roo from my pullet purchase. No white dot on his head. After two weeks, he started coming in barred. Crowing at three weeks..... so far he’s a sweetheart n afraid of his own shadow (12 weeks old). Fingers crossed he stays sweet. Any Roos I’ve ever had ended up being jerks.
Hi all! I bought pullets 8 weeks ago from TSC, and ended up with a Midnight Majesty Maran Roo.I was wondering if anyone has a roo of this breed, and what their temperament is. He’s already found his voice, is more aggressive, but his flockmates and I love him.
From what ive read, corid leaves them vitamin deficient, which is how it fights off the bacteria. I guess I’ll wait a few days and see how they are all doing. Violette, my little girl who was sick is doing so much better. The others in just a week, are so much bigger n stronger than she is...
We’ve had the heat wave here too! We’ve had a reprieve the past couple days, but looks like we are in for another heatwave next week. I know what you mean about the “mothering instinct”. I fall deeply in love with them the minute I bring them home....even Ed, lol.
It does take a lot of energy...
