I haven’t, I’ve actually never heard of doing that, could you tell me how to do so? Sounds interesting!

NEW EGG LAYING HEN! But... which hen??

They both seem to have evenly red/big combs, and neither are really squatting, although the RIR is completely mental so I never know with her. I’m not sure if RIRs lay that dark of a brown though?

NEW EGG LAYING HEN! But... which hen??

Hi! Today was a very exciting day because it was our first day we have ever gotten more than one egg! We have 6 pullet hens above laying age. My speckled Sussex and silkiexbrahma were the only two laying, but today not only did I find two eggs in the boxes, one was a lot darker than any eggs we...

    Chicken Addiction Coop Renovation?

Not necessarily. Most of my birds are small, and they don’t all sleep on that coop at night. Sometimes it’s five, sometimes it’s four, sometimes it’s three. Rarely is it more than half of them. When it’s real cold (which isn’t too often) there may be more.

    Chicken Addiction Coop Renovation?

I can’t really afford one right now with everything going on. They fit great in it and all get along, and they are out of it more than they are in it. By “cram” I was referring to the same wording the user had used, not necessarily not they were crowded. They would have more room if they used...

    Chicken Addiction Coop Renovation?

I have two coops attached via a run. Although, when I got the run I knew it would be temporary as I wanted it to be tall enough to add more roosts. I have 8 hens and 1 rooster, but they are completely free ranch and come in on their own at night. We have two HUGE spruce trees behind the coop...

New Chickens Pecked Bald Spots on Heads- Help/Advice?

I’ll try that! I’m also going to try this Blu-Kote spray that works as an antiseptic but also has a blue dye (is safe) that masks the blood so the other chickens hopefully don’t go after them.

HELP! New Hens Pecked to Bald Spots by Flock

Thanks! My alpha hen is like this to all new members, and it usually gets better pretty quickly, but I definitely think the polish crest is making it worse.

HELP! New Hens Pecked to Bald Spots by Flock

Hi, I recently added two extremely sweet Polish Candy Corn pullets to my flock of four. I introduced them slowly, but as soon as I put them in with the rest of the flock they were definitely put at the bottom of the pecking order (which I expected), but my boss hens completely pecked away bald...

Red Sex Linked or Rhode Island Red

Yeah, I’m not planning on breeding or anything so it don’t really care, just curious! I love her no matter what she’s called. 🤣

Thank you! Do you know of any other characteristics that could help me see which one she is?
