UPDATE: She just laid an egg & the egg seemed to be normal. Even cracked it open & yolk looked healthy, bright & yellow! However, the shell was rather soft & broke easily.
Hi BC Friends! Coming to you for help! Went out this morning to let my chickens out & my little Rhode Island Red was still in her coop nesting. Was plety daylight enough & the other 3 chickens & 2 ducks were already out in the pen yard ready to go. She come out only after I opened her coop door...
Great Job, Girls! Are you giving them heat or light? (Are you sure they didn't sneak over here and steal the eggs that my 8 month olds haven't been laying???)

Just collected 5 eggs for today (only have 6 birds total: 4 chickens & 2 ducks)... That tells me that our chickens & ducks must be happy even though they're prolly freezing their tail feathers off!! It's a whopping 29 degrees outside here in OKlahoma, when you figure wind chill, it's like 21...
That is what I was thinking to with the pop door left open. So I think I might give JodyJo's idea a try. I just hope my chickens & ducks are smart enough to go thru it!! LOL!

We have 4 chickens and 2 white ducks, all females. They have been raised all together since babies. We have them housed all togther in the chicken/duck coop and have had no problems at all. They get along just fine.
My question is... Does the ducks really need a tub of water to swim in daily...
