HELP (no longer needed) Termite Company sprayed while I was not home!

Yes, the active ingredient is fipronil, found in Frontline. The manufacturer is BASF and they give an emergency number on the front of the Termidor label which I found on Google. The number is 1-800-832-4357 and it is 24 hour if you want to give them a call. I am sure they would be very...

    Poultry Science major

To add to what CityChicker said I would also include government jobs like USDA. These would all be decent paying jobs. I don't know why you would have to pay high out-of-state tuitions. If you are in North Jersey you have one of the country's best Ag schools just down the road at Rutgers. Have...

Seperate flock of Roosters - will they fight?

I have a bachelor pen too and aside from a few squabbles, they seem to get along fine. There will be a definite peck order and you need to make sure that the lower ones are not prevented from getting food and water which means making sure there are enough stations. When I first decided to try...

can humans get mites from chickens?

They may crawl on you, but mites are very host specific. They are not able to live on people, so don't worry.

    How to transport chickens

I used cardboard cat carriers to move mine about 300 miles. Cardboard was good because they made quite a mess so I could just put the really dirty carriers in the trash. I got one or sometimes two birds in each carrier depending on their size. They really quieted down during the trip since the...

Can Roos live in a bachelor pad?

I read somewhere if you are going to have a coop with just roosters you should have three or more. I have a rooster coop too and they do just fine. They have their pecking order figured out and I make sure that food and water stations are well spaced so even the lower order roosters have plenty...

    Puddy Tat

No I don't think you are doing the right thing. Sounds like one tough cat who is very capable of getting along by himself, not like he is struggling for a meal. If your chickens are accessible to predators, getting rid of the cat doesn't solve your problem. You could try putting out dry food for...

    Aspen Shavings?

I have used aspen with great success. No problems at all. I think the pine smells nicer though if you have the chicks in the house. Just don't use cedar. Diane

sick , or hurt chick ????? please help i dont know what to do !

I had one hatch 10 days ago that was identical to this...the leg extended straight out behind. I tried the spraddle leg treatment for a few days and it did not help. The chick was eating its medicated starter and drinking well. It also seemed feisty and had a will to live so I gave it a chance...

    Is Insulation Needed?

Be very careful with insulation. They love to eat the blue foam board kind. I guess they would like the pink kind as well. I had a nice insulated coop and had to rip all the insulation out or cover it with pieces of cardboard. Didn't seem to hurt them when they ate it, but it can't be good! Diane
