Thank you all so much! I'll let her ger her feathers back on her own and then I'll let them interact directly again.
Scary thing owning chickens! I'm always so worried they won't be happy...

Actually the by-law says no chickens, but my neighbors said "sure three is no problem to us". I don't want to push it (especially after the very loud rooster incident).

Ha, you laugh and yet I spent over 1 hour in my pen, grabbing the hens as they pecked on my new one to make them understand that *I* am the alpha chicken and the rest of them are all betas. Well I just can't do it for days on end... My SO said to let them sort it out, but I get sad for...
Hi! I'm new at chicken keeping, and I need a little advice. I started off with 3 chicks which grew up into 2 hens and 1 rooster. Since I'm in the city and cannot keep a rooster, I went back to the lady from whom I purchased the chicks and she traded me my rooster for a hen of approximately the...
Yeah looks like a boy to me too
She (positive thinking) is my favorite one too... Ah well, I guess I'll go get a third (and maybe fourth) chick just in case. BTW in case it looks weird that I would buy chicks I can't keep, I buy them from a lady who has a hobby poultry farm and once I...
I'm sorry to trouble you guys for an emergency sexing, but I need a bit of help. 2 weeks ago I bought 2 BRs (my first chicks) and I tried to pick the two more female-looking ones of the bunch... Problem is, I think I picked wrong... And I cannot keep a rooster (technically I can't keep a chicken...
No! Not silly! I'm seriously glad that you cared enough to mention it!!! Thelma and Louise are glad too, because they know what an unexperienced owner I am

Thank you all! It's actually funny the picture was taken in the first 5 minutes of taking the chicks home and I have since covered the newspaper with paper towel for traction (read it on another post on this site).
The big waterer actually does have rocks in it, as you said, just in case!
But...
Thank you all for your ideas! My chicks didn't seem to fall for the Cheerios (I was rather insulted seeing as they try to eat everything else that crosses their path), but this morning I had the pleasure of having them jump into my hand for the aquarium cleaning! (well Thelma more readily than...

Thanks! I'm really glad I found this site, I don't know many (read "any") people who have raised chickens so this site is amazing!

PS. I just figured out the picture thing... so I'd like to introduce Thelma and Louise:
Well see the problem is that I spent at least 2 hours today just staring at them proudly and making sure they were eating and or drinking and or pooping and or peeping properly. So as often as I can may result in me holding them a LOT. (And I only spent 2 hours because I spent at least 45 min...
Thanks! I just tried holding on to them longer and they did settle down (one of them even lied down in my hand!) I guess that was kind of obvious (sorry) it's just when I saw them being scared I just wanted to put them down ASAP so that they wouldn't be scared anymore.
How often should I do it...
