Does anyone know the history of the mason jar chick feeder? Who invented it and when it appeared on the market??

In July I finally convinced Jeff that chickens are a good idea and he agreed to build the coop!
Phase one: Basic frame..
Phase 2: The coop is now set up, roof added--placed by the dog pen that will allow the chicks to "free range" and avoid the ever present...

I think I will put a fence around my garden next spring. I'm going to try a decorative fence about 3 feet tall, but I'm afraid that they'll end up flying over it... Who knows, maybe my garden will end up being a chicken run like the photo above!
Any experienced gardener/chicken keepers have any secrets for keeping their chickens from eating tomatoes/vegetables/plants (other than a fence)? Has anyone tried an organic spray--pepper/garlic...
Thanks for the replies! I wanted to put a separate coop for the guineas near my flower garden, but in the winter it would be simpler to keep them with the chickens. Also, if we are out of town, leaving them in the coop/run would be easier than having someone put them up in their coop every...
I was thinking about adding a few Guinea fowl to my flock and was wondering if they would be OK in the same coop with my Buffs or if they needed their own separate coop... Anyone have any experience with this?
