I would not think so. That would be like one of our predators (like say a lion coming around us on a regular basis and us not knowing at what point they may want to try an eat us. I am sure Pheasants view cats as Predators.
That Raccoon Size trap would have worked. I have personally used them to catch Lady Amherst Pheasant which is a little smaller however not that much. When we offer suggestions they will work because we have tried them. The bird would not be moving around much in the trap however he would not be...
Hi, You mention about using a raccoon size box trap and that is what I would use. Bait it with a small container of feed like cracked corn. You will most likely catch it in time. If you don't catch it the pheasant will most likely not survive long with the predators that are around.
Any lights can through their biological clock off and cause them to lay this time of year. Also can cause them to stop laying in the spring or lay eggs that are not fertile in the spring. I have heard that the red colored bulbs are okay however I have not tested this theory on my own.
I still think it is the lights causing them to lay eggs this time of year and also they are fertile which means the male is doing his job also. The crooked toes is said to be caused by inbreeding. Your birds may not lay eggs or be fertile this spring. I am just trying to help not trying to be...
I am just guessing you probably have lighting in your enclosure. The amount of day light is what triggers then to start laying in spring. Also where are you located.
I want to warn you that having a light on for birds will most likely cause their biological clock to be altered and they will not lay eggs this spring or the eggs if laid can be infertile. I had to learn this the hard way. I have heard that using the red colored heat lamps are okay however I...
Could you please post some more pictures of these mandarins and have they gotten any ducklings from them. It is hard to tell from pictures sometimes however that picture is interesting that was posted
I have a pair of Lady Amherst that produce a few Silver Chicks each year. I have two Silver Chicks this year from this pair. They are pure Lady Amherst as far as I can tell, purchased from a reputable breeder and produce pure wild colored chicks every year as well. They have never been housed...
Just because you don't see him does not mean he is not around. I have had them out for several days, never saw them and found them caught in the trap days later.
