    I managed to get an OK photo of the black cockerel's front - definitely some white going on, and he's getting some green iridescent patches on his wings.

    We got a 15 bird "All Heavies" mix and a 15 bird hatchery special, so could be anything. The black one is definitely a weirdo! I'm almost wondering if it's an ancona that doesn't have much mottling yet. I'll try for some better photos. The bachelor run makes it tough to get good pics.

    Wild on the Fayoumi! I had thought that initially and then second guessed myself. The assortment really is a grab bag! Thanks! Huh! Now that I go specifically read the description for the blue cochins, it absolutely says that about the 50% blue vs the others. Chicken genetics are fascinating!

    Dang, let's try that again! I must have navigated away before everything uploaded. Murray only lists Buff, White, Silver Laced, Black, Blue, and Partridge cochins in their breed list - no Splash to be seen.

    New in Mississippi

    Hello! We've had a few laying hens since 2023 (barred rocks and wyandottes) and decided to add to the flock this year! We had a ton of fun getting some assortments from McMurray for meat birds and replacement layers, so I'll probably be posting some breed ID questions at they get bigger.
