I wanted to follow up on my sick chicken. We were thinking she was a goner, but she started laying shell-less eggs, and then one day she just started laying normal eggs again. We were so amazed and excited about it. Glad we didn't do anything drastic! Didn't appear to be quite the death-sentence...
I took her to the vet, and she examined her then did an X-ray. She really thinks that is what it is, so no real cure. We weren't ready to say goodbye yet, so we took her home. She seems to be doing pretty well and is acting normally except for not laying. Her other symptoms cleared up, so we are...
I am having a similar problem with one of my ameraucanas. I can't really do any of the recommended treatments because even as lethargic as she is, I cannot catch her. She seems to be pooping egg white and poop at the same time. Sometimes there is a lot of greenish stuff that looks like the...
The pecked hen is an ameraucana (mostly I think), as is the bully. The third is a RIR. I'll try separating the bully (I'll get her tonight - the 2 ameraucanas cannot be caught by day).
They really are little dinosaurs, aren't they?

Hi - I read some other threads about limping chickens, and now I'm a bit freaked out. This morning I let our 3 chickens out of their run to scratch around in the yard. When I sent toward the feed bin, they came running like they always do, but one was limping while running. She now limps around...
Thanks for the responses. I'll wait and see what these are - I think I found a vet that can do it not far from here.
My husband seems a little concerned about eating the eggs we gathered before discovering the worms. Should we toss them? Or can we eat them if we crack them open first and then...
I know this thread was started years ago, but the photo is just what 2 of my 3 hens have. They aren't acting sick - laying great, plenty of energy. I have read the entire thread plus several others on similar topics, but am still confused. It sounds like the consensus is that these are...
